Each year, the Community Engagement Cabinet’s Office of Neighborhood Services hosts a turkey drive to support Boston Housing Authority residents during the holiday season. In fall 2024, I led the end-to-end production of a video spotlighting this initiative, serving as the project’s videographer, editor, and producer.
I shaped the narrative by identifying a clear storytelling focus: the impact of doubling donations and the collaboration between internal and external partners working to address holiday food insecurity. During pre-production, I developed a detailed shot list to ensure a strong mix of interview footage and dynamic b-roll that visually supported the story.
I filmed on site during distribution days, coordinating with staff across multiple delivery locations to capture authentic moments of community engagement. In post-production, I handled music selection, editing, captioning, and wrote the accompanying social copy. The final video was published to the Community Engagement Cabinet’s Instagram, amplifying the reach and impact of the initiative.
The video successfully reached beyond the existing audience, engaging 7,050 users with 64.3% coming from non-followers. It generated 9,861 views—94% attributed to new viewers—and received 237 interactions, underscoring the impact of meeting residents they already are—their for you pages.
