Year in Review 2025

For the 2025 Year in Review, I reimagined Spotify Wrapped as CEC Wrapped to showcase the Community Engagement Cabinet’s major accomplishments and wins across departments in a fresh, engaging format.

I was inspired by Spotify Wrapped’s moody, youthful aesthetic and sought to capture that energy while aligning with the City of Boston’s branding. My process began with in-depth research: I analyzed Spotify Wrapped content, identifying key visual frames, patterns, and layouts to inform the recreation. Using these references, I reconstructed the distinctive visual elements—including circles, diamond shapes, and piano-like tiling—and layered in the messaging, mimicking the familiar presentation of yearly music stats.

I then incorporated hand-drawn details, using the pen tool to create organic squiggly lines and shapes that maintained the playful, dynamic vibe of the original graphics. To further enhance the visuals, I added subtle texture to the main graphic, reflecting the variation and depth found on Spotify’s website.

To ensure consistency with the City’s brand identity, I replaced Spotify’s typefaces with the City of Boston’s branded fonts, Montserrat and Lora, swapped out Spotify logos for the Community Engagement Cabinet’s logos, and adapted the color palette to align with official City branding.

The final graphics were formatted for social media distribution on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Bluesky, presenting the Cabinet’s accomplishments in a trendy, tongue-in-cheek style that resonated with a broad audience while staying true to the City’s visual identity.
